Birth and Re-birth

I could not wait one second longer to share the most exciting thing(s) that happened today. First, our exterior resident (a.k.a. annoying pigeon bird at the front door) had her baby! I think its a boy because its really big already! Don't know what happened to the other 2 eggs and don't think I want to know....but Mommy and baby appear to be doing just fine. Mommy bird got all puffed up and had her angry face on when we were trying to take pictures of her. I don't blame her so we left her alone.
We had more important things to tend to. A friend of mine was telling me about her sister in law that was tearing her house down. It was a 1920's house that was not in good condition, but the land was premium so they bought it to build a new house. So upon further discussion learned that this house of course had some really cool old stuff. Well she just happened to be talking to the right person (ME) and there we were on our way to pick up the treasure-load. (Thank you Tracy (and Amanda), a million times thank you). You have got to see this stuff!!!
The front doors (we're getting them next week)...The front of the house...The back of the house....
The building to the right had the coolest stone fireplace in it. Not sure what the building was used for...Cast iron fireplace that apparently weighs about 250 pounds that we are getting next week, had cool brass bally things on the top.... Notice the size of the closet door on the left, so tiny. I got the door, don't know what I'm going to do with it, but I got it nonetheless.... Here's the door stash, Aren't they soooo coool!!!....
There are dark brown shuttered doors on the left that are amazing, they have amazing knobs and I already have a tri-fold screen planned for my office to hide my printer/scanner/ugly computer tower. The small mirror at the front is from the upstairs bathroom, the mirror is cloudy and aged looking - so cool ....and OH I forgot to mention all of the amazing radiator grates, like the one on the bottom left....
This is one of the windows on the front of the house. I never really knew what "leaded glass" looked like until now. It is really beautiful, like irridescent and ripply. Hopefully next week we can get it home without breaking it....
These are some of the lighting fixtures we were able to recover, the pendant one is just beautiful! What a find!!! The round green and white one at the front has birds on it (must be a bird day)....
I'm off to dream of doors and windows and how to repurpose them!
xoxo,
Steph
